New Delhi: Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, who has returned to Earth after his historic space mission, will have to undergo a rehabilitation process for seven days. This is a standard procedure for all astronauts returning from space to help them readjust to Earth's gravity.

According to ISRO officials, during this rehabilitation period, Shubhanshu will be under constant medical supervision. The human body undergoes significant changes in microgravity, including muscle atrophy and bone density loss, which require time to recover.

Dr. Rakesh Sharma, head of ISRO's medical team, explained that the seven-day rehabilitation program includes physiotherapy, medical tests, and gradual physical activity to help Shubhanshu regain his strength and balance. "The first few days are crucial as the body needs to readjust to Earth's gravity after spending time in weightlessness," he said.

Shubhanshu Shukla made history as part of India's first human spaceflight mission. His successful return marks a significant milestone for India's space program. During his mission, he conducted several scientific experiments that will contribute valuable data to space research.

The rehabilitation process will take place at a specialized facility where Shubhanshu will be monitored round-the-clock by a team of doctors and space medicine experts. Only after completing this mandatory recovery period will he be able to return to his family and participate in public events.

ISRO chairman S. Somanath congratulated Shubhanshu on his successful mission and said, "We are proud of his achievements. This seven-day rehabilitation is for his well-being and we want to ensure he returns to normal life in the best possible health."
